Ghanaian retired boxer Braimah Kamoko, popularly known as Bukom Banku, is once again embroiled in controversy following the release of a video allegedly showing him assaulting a woman believed to be his girlfriend.
The 29-second video, shared on the X platform by EDHUB, captures Bukom Banku, dressed in a kaftan, striking the woman, who is clad in a pink outfit. Onlookers can be heard pleading with him to stop before the altercation is eventually broken up.
The footage has sparked widespread outrage, with many social media users condemning the former boxer’s actions as abusive and unacceptable. The incident has reignited demands for him to be held accountable for his behavior.
Such actions are not only morally reprehensible but also a violation of Ghana's domestic violence laws, which prohibit assault regardless of gender. For professional boxers, the repercussions can be even more severe. Their combat training is seen as a dangerous advantage, and engaging in physical altercations outside the ring could result in harsher legal penalties, including charges of assault and battery.
Known for his brash demeanor and a history of controversial behavior, Bukom Banku’s latest act has intensified public calls for accountability, with many insisting he face the consequences of his aggression.
