He promised to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, yet only 458 miles were completed, mostly as repairs. Despite his assurance that Mexico would pay for the wall, they did not. Trump also vowed to introduce a new healthcare plan, which never materialized.

Trump's promise of a middle-class tax cut primarily benefited the wealthy, leaving the middle class to shoulder the burden. He claimed he would not play golf, yet made 250 visits to his own golf clubs, costing taxpayers $150 million. He aimed to increase economic growth by 4%, a target he did not achieve, though President Biden later did. Trump also promised an infrastructure plan, which he never delivered, whereas President Biden signed a significant one.

He asserted he would hire "the best people," but ended up firing three-quarters of them and later labeled them the worst. His pledge to reduce prescription drug prices went unfulfilled, a goal President Biden later accomplished. Trump's promise to win the trade war with China resulted in a loss of about a quarter million jobs. Corporate tax cuts, which he claimed would benefit workers, were instead used by corporations to buy back stocks.
