John Dramani Mahama, the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is projected to win Ghana's 2024 presidential election, according to a forecast by research firm Global Info Analytics. With just eight days until the December 7 polls, the latest survey released on Friday, November 29, 2024, predicts Mahama will secure 52.2% of the votes, ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is expected to garner 41.4%.
Independent candidates Nana Kwame Bediako of the New Force Movement and Alan Kojo Kyerematen of the Movement for Change are projected to receive 3.0% and 2.5% of the votes, respectively, while eight other candidates are forecast to collectively secure 0.9%.
The report also anticipates that the NDC will lead in forming the majority in Ghana’s 9th Parliament, predicting they will win approximately 150 seats, compared to the NPP’s 99 seats. One seat is expected to go to an independent candidate, while 29 seats remain too close to call.
Regionally, Mahama is predicted to win in Greater Accra, Central, Western, Volta, Western North, Bono East, Northern, Savannah, Upper West, Upper East, and Oti regions, while Bawumia is expected to claim victory in Ashanti, Eastern, Ahafo, Bono, and North East regions.
