Some fans reportedly stormed the referees' changing room during halftime of the Ghana Premier League match between Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars.
Frustrated by some of the referees' decisions, the fans allegedly followed the officials into the changing area to express their anger. A video circulating online shows match officials rushing into the room as irate fans shouted and tried to force their way in.
Some fans were seen entering the room, angrily confronting an official holding a yellow and orange linesman’s flag. Although the footage was unclear, the group appeared to question first-half decisions, including the free kick that resulted in Kotoko’s opening goal. The fans reportedly hurled verbal abuse at the officials and attempted to intimidate them.
The incident delayed the start of the second half, as the referees were absent from the pitch for about five minutes, according to reports.
On the field, Patrick Asiedu gave Kotoko an early lead with a stunning free kick just 10 minutes in. Albert Amoah later doubled the advantage in the 61st minute, sealing a 2-0 victory and ending Kotoko’s four-game winless streak.
As of now, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not issued a statement regarding the incident involving the match officials.
