The Electoral Commission of Ghana has stated that re-collation of election results after their initial declaration is not a new practice. This has occurred in the past on several occasions: Here are some instances:
2004: Under the leadership of Dr. Afari Gyan, the EC re-collated and overturned the parliamentary results for the Pru Constituency. Initially, the NPP candidate was declared the winner, but after re-collation, the NDC candidate was declared the MP-Elect.
1998: During the District Level Elections in the Dompoase Kokwaado Electoral Area in the KEEA District, the EC, again under Dr. Afari Gyan, overturned an earlier declaration and declared the correct candidate as the winner.

Re-collation of results following violent disruption of the collation process is not new.
It has happened before. Here are some instances from the 2004 Elections:
2004 | The EC, under the leadership of Dr. Afari Gyan, re-collated parliamentary results for the Pru Constituency and declared the right candidate as winner |
2004 | The EC, under the leadership of Dr. Afari Gyan, re-collated parliamentary results for the Tolon Constituency and declared the right candidate as winner |
2004 | The EC, under the leadership of Dr. Afari Gyan, re-collated parliamentary results for the Yapei-Kusawgu Constituency and declared the right candidate as winner |
2004 | The EC, under the leadership of Dr. Afari Gyan, re-collated parliamentary results for the Zabzugu Constituency and declared the right candidate as winner |
This historical context highlights that re-collation is a standard procedure when discrepancies are identified in the election results.
